On November 24th, 2019,14:30, the Torch Heart Reading Club of the College of Mechanical Engineering was held as scheduled in the activity room of Song Yi 526. The participants included the counselor of the College of Mechanical Engineering in Grade 18, Dashuai Yang, community teacher Bingqing Zhao, and the reading enthusiasts in Grade 18 and 19.
At the beginning of the book club, moderator Peidong Liu introduced the origin of this activity and put forward requirements for the book club. Counselor Dashuai Yang offered his insights on reading and communication to the students and encouraged them to read more and share more.
During the activity, the sharers introduced elaborately, and listeners listened attentively and actively to interact with each other. They enthusiastically expressed their views, recommending various books such as 《Totem of Wolf》, 《The Great Gatsby》, 《The Shawshank Redemption》 and 《100 Years of Global Business to each other》. They also exchanged their reading habits and reading preferences, discussed the relationship between reading and life. The atmosphere of the activity was pleasant and the students benefited a lot.
Zhongying Xu shared his views on the book 《Totem of Wolf》, from which he learned the spirit of freedom, independence, tenacity, bravery, and the character of never giving in and never surrendering. Ziming Wu talked about his knowledge of the ancient architecture of the Han Dynasty and showed everyone the majesty and magnificence of Chang'an City. Liu Peidong recommended a three-line poem by Natsume Soseki, which gives a taste of life from the humdrum.
During the reading club, Mr. Yang also brought his unique insights. Taking his own life experience as the starting point, Mr. Yang encouraged contemporary college students to be ambitious and self-sufficient and to take the responsibility of blessing the countryside and inspiring society. At the same time, Mr. Yang recommended the book 《Talking about faith from the top - this is how to give Party Education》, which is a book that gives Party Education to young people with the perspective and thinking of young people, aiming to make young people have a vivid understanding of communism, the Communist Party and the party constitution in a pleasant language.
At the end of the reading club, Ms. Zhao summarized the activity, saying that students of engineering also need literary attainments, and encouraged everyone to continue to read and cultivate good reading habits.
