Strive Forward, Look Forward

On October 11^th, 2019, Chongqing University Global Autobot Summit & Automotive Frontier Technology Forum was held at the Conference Hall on the 19th floor in Days Hotel Chongqing Keyuan. Some distinguished alumni, industry leaders, and teachers and students from the School of Vehicle Engineering (SVE) gathered together to explore the frontiers of auto industry. Hanlong Liu, vice president of CQU delivered an opening speech. Then alumnus representative Shiqiang Hao,  Secretary of Sichuan Industry Association, made a speech. Quan Liao, faculty from Engineering Department hosted the Summit, and Prof Yansong He from SVE presided over the Exchange Salon.

The summit opened with the grand anthem of Chongqing University. Vice president Hanlong Liu expressed gratitude and extended a warm welcome to present leaders and guests. Then, he introduced the opportunities and achievements that CQU has made from the aspects of national and municipal level.

Then, Shiqiang Hao,  the alumnus representative as well as Secretary of Sichuan Industry Association delivered congratulations and expressed his feelings of missing. He put forward sincere suggestions for the development of the college, and hoped that the alumni, teachers and students of Chongqing University could work together to build a brilliant future.

Next, Prof, Gang Guo, Dean of SVE made a speech to express gratitude to all guests and alumni for their presence. He reviewed the history of SVE , listed the recent achievements and at last set out the future aims and plans of SVE.

After opening and award ceremony, the keynote speech followed given by six distinguished alumni. They distinguished alumni presented their research achievements and developments at the forefront of the automotive industry, and presented a blueprint for the future development of the automotive industry.

The first one is Yudong Chen, president of Bosch China made a report with the theme of “World Pattern of Auto Industry and Opportunities for China”, introduced the strategies and achievements of Bosch, providing a road for development for automobile enterprises.

Then, Prof. Bin Jiang, the Cheung Kong Scholar and expert on automative magnesium alloy delivered a report “ The Application of Magnesium Alloy Auto Parts in Automotive Lightweight”. He introduced its application, advantages, disadvantages, future development and academic achievements. 

The third speaker Gaochao Chen, general manager of Haima Automobile gave a speech “Strategic Choice and Management of Chinese Brand Vehicles”. He analyzed the difficulties faced by auto industry nowadays, and put forward three strategic principles to lead companies to success according to his own successful experience. Besides,  he said it’s time for automobile enterprises to seize strategic opportunities and gave his advise on future development.

The fourth report “Get Personally Involved in the Development of New Energy Vehicles (NEV)  in China” was delivered  by Dr. Fang Shui, a senior alumnus of CQU from the following three perspectives: Chinese passenger car market , participation in the development of NEV and its prospect. He analyzed the driving forces contributing to the development of fuel consumption and passenger cars. Moreover, he took himself as an example to introduce the development of NEV in China and looked the future of NEV and BEV (battery electric vehicles).

Next, Xijia Zhu, gave a report themed “ CAERI Automobile Wind Tunnel Technology”, introducing the structure of wind tunnel center and applied real pictures and simulation images to detail its main equipment and operating mode. It improved audience’s understanding of wind tunnel center and its testing.  

Prof. Xiaosong Hu from SVE made the last keynote speech “ Key Control Issues and Challenges of NEV Powertrain”. He explained the CPS management and control of “ Advanced Energy-storage System—Energy Drive System”, one of the research orientations of his team. He also introduced model state, battery group management, battery thermal management, echelon utilization and other aspects in detail.

After the wonderful keynote speech, the exchange salon started where guests shared their ideas from mainly three aspects: industry development, talent training and career growth, and discussed the prospects of auto industry together. Debing Chen, general manager assistant of Chongqing Vehicle Test and Research Institute Co., Ltd, Yukun Lai,  deputy chief engineer of Chongqing Qijiang Gears Drive Co., Ltd, Anjian Zhou,  deputy manager of Chongqing Changan New Energy Vehicle Technology Co., Ltd, Yu Su, technical director of HONGYAN Commercial Vehicle Co., LTD, Aijun Zhou, CAE senior consultant of Shanghai DNE Technology Co., Ltd, Li Dengke, director of Auto Space Co,. Ltd, and Yong Yang, president assistant of AXA Tianping Property Insurance Co., Ltd, delivered speeches respectively.

Finally, Chongqing University Global Autobot Summit & Automotive Frontier Technology Forum closed after valuable speeches. On the 90th anniversary of CQU, the successful hosting of the Forum not only prompted some deep discussions on fronttier technologies in automobile industry, broadened horizons in the field, but also improve connections between alumni and alma mater, making them feel the deep concern from CQU. In the communication with alumni, students were encouraged and became more clear about their future. They would continue to develop the spirit of CQU “Vehicles” and grow into better selves, thus contributing to the development and construction of the country and the school.
